meet the team!
Deb has been married to her husband Jeff for twenty years! Between the two of them, they have four adult children and nine grandkids. When she’s not teaching first graders, you’ll find her playing with her grands, reading food blogs, and dreaming of cooking. It wasn’t until she was in her mid thirties that really understood that God’s grace is a gift with no strings attached, and that there is nothing she could possibly “do” to deserve it. Through a difficult first marriage and painful divorce, she began to trust that God was full of grace and mercy, and that He loved her simply because she was His beloved daughter. She is excited to be a part of the Free To Be team and help spread God’s message of grace to others.
Susie is mama to four grown girls (three of which are on this team!), and has been married to Dean for over thirty years. Her energy, excitement for life, and laughter are a perfect match for the many kindergarteners she teaches during the day. She has always dreamt of being an event coordinator - ask her kids about their extravagant childhood birthday parties - and is excited to be able to live a little bit of that dream with Free To Be. Susie almost always has her nose in a book, coffee in her hand, smile on her face, and Bible near by. She has grown up always knowing God, but loves deepening her relationship with Him everyday.
Prayer and Connections Coordinator
Kris has been drawn to women’s ministry throughout her life. She loves to encourage women. Whether a formal speaking engagement, teaching a Bible study or meeting one-on-one over coffee, it is Kris’s desire to help women see their identity in Christ and live out of that freedom. She has been married to her husband Doug for 34 years. Together they have four adult children, three wonderful in-laws, and four grandchildren. While her paid job is a corporate flight scheduler, here is what she really enjoys: walks with her husband, good conversations with her kids and in-laws, playing with her grandchildren or having coffee with a friend.
Founder and Executive Director
Kensie is the executive director of Free To Be Ministries as well as one of the ministry's primary speakers and teachers. She has been married to Alex for eight years and is a stay at home mama of two little boys. Coming from a background of drug use, partying, and arrest, she connects deeply with those who feel shame and guilt because of their past. Kensie boldly declares the truth, freedom, and identity found only in Jesus Christ through her writing and speaking in hopes to free other women from insecurities, expand their understanding of God and His word, and encourage spiritual growth. Given a day to herself, you'd find Kensie shopping, drinking Dunkin iced coffee, nerding out on theology, listening to true crime podcasts, or jammin to electronic dance music!
Worship and Hype Coordinator
Sadie is a nineteen year old college student attending Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. She is majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies with Music, Church Ministries, and Global Studies cognates. Some of her favorite things include baking, reading, writing, movies, health+fitness, music, and spending time with her friends. Since coming to college, she has felt a call towards full-time ministry and has learned so much about her freedom in Christ. Her ideal night would include enjoying some homemade popcorn and dark chocolate, while binge-watching Gilmore Girls. Her greatest passion is sharing the love of Jesus Christ with others through words and music.
Environment and Volunteer Coordinator
Denise is a proud mama of one who loves spending time with family, listening to music, reading, and eating all the sweets. If someone told her years ago she’d be on a ministry team, she would have laughed. But once she understood how real God’s love and grace are, she became passionate about sharing Christ with others. She does this by serving in children’s ministry at her church, volunteering wherever she can, and working with ministries like Free To Be and CCS (Community Soccer Sundays). Her heart is devoted to walking alongside others so that they can grow in their relationship with Christ and know how truly amazing He is.
